- Wisdom from Proverbs: Humility
-
- The fear of the LORD is the instruction
for wisdom, and before honor comes humility…When pride comes, then comes
dishonor, but with the humble is wisdom…The way of a fool is right in his own
eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel…Through insolence comes
nothing but strife, but wisdom is with those who receive counsel…It is better
to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the
proud…A man's pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will obtain
honor…If you have been snared with the words of your mouth, Have been caught
with the words of your mouth, do this then, my son, and deliver yourself;
since you have come into the hand of your neighbor, go, humble yourself, and
importune your neighbor…Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect
it…Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, teach a
righteous man and he will increase his learning…The reward of humility and the
fear of the LORD are riches, honor and life.
