Scriptural Encouragement & Exhortation

Helping the Helpless

…whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many…For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat…I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you…How blessed is he who considers the helpless; the LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble…He who despises his neighbor sins, but happy is he who is gracious to the poor…One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed…if you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness and your gloom will become like midday…when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous…Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body….remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'…Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me…Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
