- Christ is Risen!
-
- …this Man, delivered over by the
predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the
hands of godless men and put Him to death. But God raised Him up again,
putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be
held in its power…Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who
is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us…He was raised on the
third day according to the Scriptures…we preach to you the good news of the
promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our
children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second
Psalm, 'YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.' As for the fact that He
raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in
this way: 'I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.' Therefore He
also says in another Psalm, 'YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO
DECAY.' For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own
generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay;
but He whom God raised did not undergo decay…for He has risen, just as He
said…He has risen from the dead…He who was delivered over because of our
transgressions, and was raised because of our justification…He was foreknown
before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for
the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the
dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God…For not one of
us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; for if we live, we live
for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or
die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He
might be Lord both of the dead and of the living…God has not only raised the
Lord, but will also raise us up through His power…For if the dead are not
raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised,
your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins…But now Christ has been
raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a
man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in
Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
