- Christ Died
-
- Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to
you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him
in your midst, just as you yourselves know--this Man, delivered over by the
predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the
hands of godless men and put Him to death…Jesus, crying out with a loud voice,
said, "Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT." Having said this, He
breathed His last…while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died
for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps
for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own
love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us…Christ
Jesus is He who died…I delivered to you as of first importance what I also
received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures…He was
pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The
chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are
healed…Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so
that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh…and He
Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin
and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed…For what the Law
could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son
in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin
in the flesh…Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a
curse for us--for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE"…He
made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him…the love of Christ controls us, having concluded
this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that
they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and
rose again on their behalf.
