- The highway of the upright is to depart
from evil; he who watches his way preserves his life…Watch over your heart
with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life…Watch the path of
your feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor
to the left; turn your foot from evil…A wise man is cautious and turns away
from evil, but a fool is arrogant and careless…Beware that you do not forget
the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His
statutes which I am commanding you today…Beware that your hearts are not
deceived, and that you do not turn away and serve other gods and worship
them…beware that you are not ensnared to follow them, and that you do not
inquire after their gods, saying, 'How do these nations serve their gods, that
I also may do likewise?'…Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to
be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in
heaven…Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly are ravenous wolves…Beware, and be on your guard against every form
of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his
possessions…The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, but the naive go on,
and are punished for it…Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and
turn away from evil.
