- Blessed are those who Mourn (1)
-
- Blessed are those who mourn, for they
shall be comforted…O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in
Your wrath. Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away; Heal me, O LORD,
for my bones are dismayed. And my soul is greatly dismayed; But You, O
LORD--how long? Return, O LORD, rescue my soul; Save me because of Your
lovingkindness…How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You
hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having
sorrow in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the
sleep of death, and my enemy will say, "I have overcome him," And my
adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken. But I have trusted in Your
lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the
LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me…To You, O LORD, I called, And
to the Lord I made supplication: What profit is there in my blood, if I go
down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?
Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my helper. You have turned for
me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with
gladness, that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my
God, I will give thanks to You forever…I waited patiently for the LORD; And He
inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of
destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my
footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD. How blessed is the man who
has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who
lapse into falsehood
