Scriptural Encouragement & Exhortation

Blessed are the Poor in Spirit

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven…thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite…For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.”…I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You; Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes…The LORD is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit…The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise…A man's pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor…But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted…Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you…At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight."
