- Blessed are the Persecuted
-
- Blessed are those who have been
persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all
kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward
in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were
before you…Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult
you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. Be glad in
that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in
the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets. But woe to you who are
rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full…For to you it has been
granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for
His sake…Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which
comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening
to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on
rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with
exultation. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed,
because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you…If we endure, we will also
reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us; If we are faithless, He
remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself…Indeed, all who desire to live
godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted…For you have been called for this
purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to
follow in His steps…if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you
are blessed…Moses, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy
the passing pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater
riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.
