& Exhortation

- Blessed are the Merciful
-
- Blessed are the merciful, for they
shall receive mercy…Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything
against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you
your transgressions…For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then
your Father will not forgive your transgressions…Should you not also have had
mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you? And his
lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay
all that was owed him. My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if
each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart…How blessed is he who
considers the helpless; The LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble. The
LORD will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon
the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies…The merciful
man does himself good, But the cruel man does himself harm…One who is gracious
to a poor man lends to the LORD, And He will repay him for his good deed…love
your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your
reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is
kind to ungrateful and evil men…Which of these three do you think proved to be
a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands? And he said, "The one
who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the
same."…So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a
heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with
one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone;
just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you…For judgment will be
merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
