Attentiveness

 

He who has ears, let him hear…My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart…My son, give attention to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; that you may observe discretion and your lips may reserve knowledge…Listen, O daughter, give attention and incline your ear: Forget your people and your father's house; then the King will desire your beauty. Because He is your Lord, bow down to Him…Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father, and give attention that you may gain understanding, for I give you sound teaching; do not abandon my instruction…Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David…He who gives attention to the word will find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD…But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears from hearing…If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea…we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it…So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.
